MikroTik

MikroTik has been developing, installing and selling wireless routers since 1995. MikroTik now provides wireless ISP systems for Internet connectivity in most of the countries around the world. MikroTik's newest software product, MikroTik RouterOS v3, is a software router system which makes it easy for any VAR, ISP, or network admin to make a PC router for wireless, wide area, or local area networks.

RouterOS

The main product of MikroTik is a Linux-based operating system known as MikroTik RouterOS. It lets users turn a selected PC-based machine into a software router, allowing features such as firewall rules, VPN Server and Client, bandwidth shaper Quality of Service, wireless access point and other commonly used features for routing and connecting networks together. The system is also able to serve as a captive-portal based hotspot system. The operating system is licensed in escalating levels, each releasing more of the available RouterOS features as the level number rises. Licensing is fee based and escalates with the released features. There is a software called Winbox which provides a sophisticated GUI for the RouterOS operating system. The software also allows connections via FTP, telnet, and SSH. There is also an API which allows creating customised applications for management and monitoring.

RouterBOARDS

RouterBOARD is the hardware platform made by MikroTik. The RouterBOARD routers are powered by the unmatchable RouterOS Operating system and range from small wireless CPEs, to very powerful core routers, each for a different task and situation.

MIKROTIK Training programs and certificates

MikroTik training sessions are organized and provided by MikroTik Training Centers at various locations around the World. They are attended by network engineers, integrators and managers, who would like to learn about routing and managing wired and wireless networks using MikroTik RouterOS.
